Welcome to the Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee monitors activities relevant to legislative and regulatory issues regarding Advanced Practice Nursing within Texas and reports back to HANP.
All active members are encouraged to volunteer for the review process on an as needed basis.
The Texas Legislature meets in Regular Session every odd-numbered year. During legislative sessions, The Coalition for Nurses in Advanced Practice (CNAP) reviews, tracks and testifies on proposed legislation that may impact APN practice or patients' health to see that legislative support of APNs is signed by the Governor. This involves grassroots organization and HANP is part of this effort to educate the APN’s in the Houston area. We strongly urge you to participate in this legislative process.
A Legislative Education Day is coordinated each spring by CNAP and all APN’s and nurses are encouraged to attend.
A Power Point presentation by Lynda Woolbert, MSN, RN, PNP, Executive Director of CNAP, 2010 APRN Legislative Update & Kickoff, is posted in the CURRENT ISSUES section. CURRENT ISSUES is a Members Only access area.
